DreamHack has revealed the names of teams who received direct invites to its upcoming tournament in Leipzig. Invitations were sent to four squads: North, Virtus.pro, BIG, and Renegades.
For the Virtus.pro players, it will be the second tournament under the banner of the Russian organization. Earlier, the ex-roster of AVANGAR took the last 7-8th place at EPICENTER 2019. BIG and North finished the previous year by taking part in DreamHack Open Sevilla. There, the German squad did not win a single match, while the Danish five came all the way to the championship trophy. In the final series, they managed to overcome CR4ZY with a 2-1 score.
Defending the honour of the CSGO scene of Oceania will be Renegades. Before New Year’s holidays, they participated in ESL Pro League S10 Finals. There, the Australian team placed 9-12th. According to the recent rumours, changes are coming for their lineup. It was reported that Jordan "Hatz" Bajic is set to join ex-Grayhound Gaming, replacing Oliver "DickStacy" Tierney. If it happens, DH Leipzig will be the debut LAN for Hatz in his new team.
The next part of the participant list will feature the winners of the regional qualifiers. The first spot was earned by Sprout, who reign victorious at ESL Meisterschaft Winter. The other three tickets to Germany will be handed out in separate qualifiers for Europe and North America.
DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 is scheduled for January 24-26 and offers a prize fund of $100,000. The champion of this competition will take home a $50,000 cheque and a spot at DreamHack Masters Jönköping. All action is set to be hosted in Leipziger Messe, where the second Major of the current Dota Pro Circuit season, DreamLeague Season 13, will also be held.
