The French team of Vitality has conquered the trophy of EPICENTER 2019 in CSGO, having earned $250,000 of prize money. Over the course of the tournament, they managed to beat such squads as EHOME, NAVI, Heroic, and mousesports.
The Frenchmen started their participation in the Moscow event within Group A. In the opening match, they won over EHOME with a 2-0 score. Later on, Vitality faced off against NAVI for a spot in the semifinal stage of the Playoffs. The French lineup was crushed on Dust2 (4-16) but bounced back on Inferno and Nuke (16-3 and 16-3).
The strongest team in Group B was mousesports. On the way to the semifinals, they prevailed over Virtus.pro and Evil Geniuses. Other participants proceeded to the quarterfinals, to which tickets were earned by Heroic, forZe, NAVI, and EG. EHOME and VP took the last 7-8th place, being eliminated from the tournament before the Playoffs kicked off.
In the semifinal match, Team Vitality defeated the Danes of Heroic, 2-0: 16-12 Vertigo, 16-12 Inferno. After that, they advanced to the grand-final, where they were later joined by mousesports. The European five beat Evil Geniuses with a 2-0 result: 16-12 Train, 16-14 Overpass.
Inferno was the map where the final clash began, and it was won by mousesports in the first OT, 19-16. Then, Team Vitality managed to tie the score on Mirage, 16-12. Consequently, it all came down to Nuke, which was closed out by the French squad at a 16-9 mark. The key to Vitality’s success was a phenomenal performance of Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, who on average made 29 kills per map (87-48 K-D, 1.58 KDR).

The aforementioned ZywOo was named as the most valuable player of EPICENTER 2019, according to HLTV.org. He scored a 1.53 rating after 10 maps. It’s the fifth MVP medal in the career of the French super-star. Earlier, he got four individual awards at the following tournaments: cs_summit 4, ECS S7 Finals, ESL One Cologne 2019, and DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019.
