NAVI, forZe eliminated from EPICENTER 2019

NAVI and forZe have finished their participation in EPICENTER 2019. The last CIS representatives at the tournament placed 5-6th and earned $15,000 each. Both teams were defeated in the quarterfinals with a 0-2 score.

Matches of the Playoff stage at the Moscow championship started with Heroic taking on forZe. Before that, the Russian lineup took the 2nd place of Group B after winning over Evil Geniuses.

On the first map, Mirage, the Danish five crushed its opponent 16-6. There, the Russian team had a weak showing on the T side, losing the first half 3-12. Then, Heroic prevailed over them on Nuke. This time, the Danes delivered a great performance as the Ts as they scored 12 rounds (12-3). Eventually, the Russians managed to reduce the gap but didn’t turn the tide of the game, 12-16.

Johannes "b0RUP" Borup was the best player of this series, as he averaged a 1.35 rating in 2 maps. The Danish rifler made 48 kills (48-35 K-D) and dealt 88.8 points of damage per round. None of the forZe performers left the server with a K-D difference higher than "-1".

After that, it was Evil Geniuses and NAVI who entered the stage of the Crocus Expo Hall. Earlier, Natus Vincere finished on the 2nd spot of Group A. There, they lost to Team Vitality but beat Heroic on two separate occasions.

The series kicked off on Mirage. NAVI outperformed their rival in the first half, 8-7, but lost the momentum on the T side. In total, they earned only 2 points as the Ts, being defeated 11-16. Later on, the teams switched to Dust2, which was previously chosen by the CIS roster. Once again, they won 8 rounds on the defense, 8-7, but failed to build upon that in the second half, which resulted in a 14-16 loss.

Ethan "Ethan" Arnold was the most valuable player of this Best of 3. His average rating stopped at a 1.41 mark (47-33 K-D, 97.1 ADR). Speaking of Natus Vincere, only Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov scored a positive K-D — 41-39 (1.12 KDR).

Thus, Heroic and Evil Geniuses proceeded to the semifinals of EPICENTER 2019, where they were awaited by Team Vitality and mousesports. Now, the Danish squad is set to fight with the lineup of Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, while the Americas one is slated to compete with the Europeans who previously won three tournaments in a row: CS:GO Asia Championships 2019, ESL Pro League S10 Finals, and cs_summit 5.
