Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen has joined the ranks of North, for the second time in his career. His return was announced in a short video, where the Danish organization presented its new jersey.
MSL’s first stint in North began on January 3 in 2017, when the org sponsored by F.C. Copenhagen signed the former Dignitas lineup. There, he had played for 20 months, managing to win four LAN tournaments. Among them is DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018, where Lauridsen earned the MVP award.
Right after DH Stockholm, when the FACEIT Major in London took place, North showed a lacklustre result at the tournament in the UK, facing elimination in The New Challengers Stage. Consequently, the management decided to part ways with two players, one of which was Mathias. Back then, he was replaced by Casper "cadiaN" Møller.
After that, MSL was representing Rogue and OpTic Gaming, but failed to achieve any notable results. During his time in those squads, he won only one event, DreamHack Open Summer 2019. However, a few months later, the OpTic roster announced disbandment, while Lauridsen started his search for a new team.
The renewed CSGO lineup of North:
- Nicklas "gade" Gade
- Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye
- Philip "aizy" Aistrup
- René "cajunb" Borg
- Jakob "JUGi" Hansen
- Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen
- Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg (coach)
As of now, it is unclear who in the starting North roster will get replaced by MSL. It can be assumed that it is JUGI who will be cut from the team. He’s been showing unsatisfying results for a long time, and is heavily criticised by the CSGO community for his poor performance. In this case, Mathias will become not only the lineup’s captain but also pick up the role of an AWP'er. Accurate information is yet to be unveiled.
Kjaerbye signs a new contract with North
DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 will be North’s next tournament, to which they were directly invited. According to the draw for this event, they found themselves in one group with Heroic, MAD Lions, and Sprout. There, apparently, MSL’s debut will be made. Earlier, the Danish squad participated in the qualifier for IEM Katowice 2020, where they placed 3-4th and were left without a ticket to the upcoming championship of ESL Pro Tour.
UPD. North confirmed the removal of Jakob "JUGi" Hansen. He has been a part of the team for seven months.
