Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye has re-signed with the esports organization of North, as it was announced on their official website. The Danish club did not specify for what period of time the deal is concluded.
Kjaerbye joined the ranks of North back in February 2018. Back then, he departed from Astralis after they had a lacklustre performance at ELEAGUE Major in Boston. And while his former team managed to bounce back and became the world’s #1, his current one has had little success on the competitive CSGO scene. The new squad of Kjærbye won only one Big Event in two years, DreamHack Masters Stockholm.
North finished the previous year on a good note, as they won DreamHack Open Sevilla and earned $50,000 of prize money. There, on the way to the triumph, they took down BIG, Movistar Riders, MAD Lions, and CR4ZY. By the end of December, the Danish five was occupying the 20th spot of HLTV’s World Ranking.
The Danish organization only announced the re-signing of Kjaerbye but did not mention any other player from its active CSGO lineup. It would be logical to assume that changes are possible for their team. As of now, the North roster looks as follows:
- Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye
- Nicklas "gade" Gade
- Jakob "JUGi" Hansen
- Philip "aizy" Aistrup
- René "cajunb" Borg
- Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg (coach)
Beside the Kjaerbye news, North announced a rebrand and restructuring of their management; this process started back in October 2019. The Danish club, sponsored by F.C. Copenhagen, revealed an updated logo, presented a new performance coach, and named the players who will compete for them at Apex Legends Global Series. Citing a statement from the official press release, in 2020 they "will aim at becoming the leading Scandinavian esport organization".
